Pro-West Refrigeration Ltd HVAC Contractor

Benefits of Installing a New Residential HVAC System:

  • On average, new HVAC systems provide up to 7% greater energy efficiency than the year prior
  • Newer systems typically require fewer repairs
  • Advances in indoor air quality (IAQ) technology mean newer systems make your residential space even more comfortable

At Pro-West for Installs, our Comprehensive Service Includes:

  • Installation of A/C coil.
  • Installation of condensing unit.
  • Pipping in of line set between condenser and evaporator coil.
  • We would run electrical & thermostat wires and terminated wiring connections to the unit and breaker panel.

We primarily offer installations in Central Air Conditioning Systems and Ductless Split Units and proudly install York Products.

Central Air Conditioning Systems:

Home Central Air Conditioning Systems

It is one of the most commonly used residential air conditioning systems, and this helps to purify the air in homes as we can install air purifying equipment with the furnace’s filter. This is the most cost effective solution compared to the ductless systems and the cooling will reach out all the rooms in the home. Integration of smart thermostats offer a well scheduled cooling service with minimum energy consumption.  As per the requirements and by an expert technician’s evaluation, you can proceed with an appropriate central HVAC unit for your residential area.

Ductless Split Units:

Residential Ductless Split Units

Ductless split air conditioning unit does not use ductwork, so this technology can also be easily integrated into old homes. This system consists of multiple indoor units to cool and that can be installed on wall, floor or ceiling. As it has multiple head units, we can set a dedicated temperature for different residential spaces. The ductless unit’s installation is very simple as it just consists of indoor and outdoor compressor units, and just needs a small hole to connect, so the maintenance section will be very customer friendly.

Finding the Right Contractor:

At Pro-West, our knowledgeable and certified technicians possess the necessary qualifications, skills, and tools to not only install your centralized air conditioning system but calculates the type and size of an HVAC system that is most appropriate for your home.

Why is it important to diagnose and calculate the right sized unit for your home?

  • A unit too big will turn on and on frequently, resulting in poor energy efficiency
  • A unit too small will cause the system to work harder than it should
  • The right sized unit will even temperatures for ultimate comfort and increase energy efficiency in the residential space.

Finding the Right Air Conditioning Unit for your Home:

Pro-West only installs the best in the industry and will often ask you key questions before proceeding with a recommendation or viable options based on your needs.

If you have plans to build an addition and expand your residential space, advising us can ensure we can recommend the best unit with the right options available to ensure its capacity with the expansion. All the units we install come with warranties and it’s always good to be fully aware of what your warranties entail for the comfort and protection for years to come.

Thermostats, Ductwork and Add-On Options:

Now that you’ve been provided with a recommended sized unit, it is now important to ensure the add-on options you choose complete your system. Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) such as air cleaners and humidifiers.

Ductwork is another aspect to your home that our qualified technicians will investigate and check that your existing ductwork will work well with your new system. Ductwork overtime can have wear and tear where your existing ductwork may require maintenance or cleaning; another part of our service that is included.

Another important component of any new system installation is the main point of your HVAC system you will interact with the most; a communicating thermostat that can actively monitor and comprehensively control your system and alert you of any possible issues that may arise.

Pro-West’s Maintenance Service:

Regular maintenance of your residential air conditioning system is essential, especially with new units to diagnose and identify early on of any small issues that can mitigated before they become significant. Let Pro-West do the work for you and make regularly scheduled visits so that you continue to enjoy the comfort of your home and that your HVAC system is operating as efficiently as possible.

At Pro-West, when visiting your home for maintenance, we will often check:

  • Fan Motor bearings for play
  • Cleaning condenser coils
  • The contactors for pitting/arching
  • Checking/Replacing filters

Our fantastic team are certified Red Seal Journeyman HVAC/R Mechanics with all the updated and required health & safety certifications. Their comprehensive knowledge, years of experience, and excellent workmanship is unparalleled. Our ability to be mobile where we can come to you, 24 hours a day, across several locations in Western Canada is what distinguishes our services and capabilities. Our physical business locations are based in Grande Prairie, Edmonton, Vancouver, Regina, Fort St. John & Calgary.

Top Tips from our Technicians:

  • How often should you change your filters?

Every 3 months but depends on the MERV rating of your filter; a high rating is more restrictive which would require more changes of filters.

  • Mowing your lawn?

After mowing your lawn, check your condenser coil and make sure it hasn’t been plugged up with lawn clippings or debris. Overlooking this may cause otherwise your refrigerant pressures to run higher; causing your compressor to work harder than it should.

  • For AC Season

Always ensure to check your air registers to make sure they’re not blocked or that too many are closed as that can cause your evaporator coil to freeze up without the proper air flow.

Ever stand in your basement staring at your old furnace, wondering if it’s going to quit on you right when it hits -30°C? Or maybe you’ve walked into your house on a blazing July afternoon, only to realize your AC gave up again. We've heard these stories more times than I can count like our customer up in Grande Prairie who finally pulled the plug on his noisy 25-year-old unit after it chugged through way too many winters. He was nervous about costs and brands. “Is York actually a good furnace? Should I go with Lennox? Or Carrier?” Here’s what we tell people all across Western Canada when they’re thinking about York furnaces or air conditioners. Is York a good brand for HVAC? Short answer: yes. York’s been around since the 1800s, and they’ve supplied systems for everything from ordinary homes to the U.S. Capitol building. They’ve built a reputation for: • Solid engineering: We’ve installed York systems in everything from modular offices to farmhouses. The tech is tried-and-true. • Energy savings: Most York AC units and furnaces today meet or beat ENERGY STAR standards, which is crucial when you’re paying Alberta or Saskatchewan utility rates. • Serviceable designs: Parts are relatively easy to source across Canada, which means repairs aren’t as painful. York furnaces vs. York AC: what’s the difference in reliability? We see it like this: • York furnaces: Their modern gas furnaces are efficient and run pretty quietly. They’ve worked out a lot of older quirks. For example, York’s LX Series has models that adapt better to tight crawlspaces and retrofits, which we see a lot in older Canadian homes. • York air conditioners: The newer split systems handle variable loads well. That’s huge when your summers swing from cool evenings to 35°C days. Customers in places like Regina or Fort St. John have told us their power bills dropped after replacing older units with York’s more efficient SEER-rated ACs. What about the common complaints you see online? You’ll find YouTube videos and Reddit threads complaining about any brand. Truth is, most issues come down to improper installs or lack of maintenance. We’ve replaced more failed systems that were simply sized wrong for the house than anything else. I remember a local shop here had a brand new York furnace fail in two years turned out the installer never adjusted the gas pressure. Meanwhile, we have York systems pushing 15+ years strong in the same neighborhood. Is York better than Lennox or Carrier? Honestly? They’re all solid brands. What matters most is: • The installer’s workmanship. • The proper sizing and setup for your home’s load. • Regular tune-ups. But we lean on York for a lot of residential installs because of their parts availability in Western Canada and how well their newer ACs handle sudden heat waves. Why we install York systems at Pro-West • We’ve done plenty of York HVAC installs across Grande Prairie, Edmonton, Regina and more. • Their systems balance up-front cost with long-term operating efficiency. • And they stand behind warranties something homeowners care about if a blower fails. Thinking of upgrading? If you’re considering a York furnace or air conditioner (or even both in a matched system), we’d be happy to come by and take a look at your current setup. You might be surprised what kind of savings you can get from dropping your old 60% AFUE furnace for a new 95%+ York. Or how much quieter your summers could be with a modern York AC that doesn’t sound like a jet engine. Give us a shout, no pressure, no nonsense. We’re happy to share what we’ve seen work best in homes just like yours.
